I’m a Senior Lecturer in Spanish at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus. I’m particularly interested in Race and Identity in the Hispanic Caribbean, and specifically my recent work centres on the poetry and narrative of Caribbean Women writers.

So, I’m interested in understanding the relationships in Hispanic Caribbean societies with respect to social attitudes toward race and ethnicity. In this sense, our relationships with all other people in our society. More and more gender identity is also of increasing interest to me as well as language. I absolutely love poetry and specifically women’s identities and language. In terms of Caribbean societies, I think that identity is closely related to power in society.
